STATISTICS
Maine Abortion Statistics
In the past ten years, abortions have dropped by an amazing 19%—
from 2,413 abortions in 2009—to 1,949 in 2018.
The trend continues in favor of life!
Between 2009-2018, surgical abortions dropped by 47% (1, 046 v. 1,976).
You may recall, however, when Maine Family Planning introduced chemical/telemed abortions in 2016 at ALL 17 of their locations, chemical abortions increased by 47% in just one year (542 v. 799). Maine went from having three abortion clinics to having 20 abortion clinics overnight. Maine CDC reports from 2009-2018 chemical abortions have increased by 106%, now representing almost half (46%) of all abortions committed in Maine. The good news is that from 2017 to 2018, abortions in Maine decreased overall by 1% in spite of the all out attack on life by the cash rich abortion industry .
Maine Family Planning offers chemical telemed/webcam abortions at all of their clinics in the following towns: Bangor, Belfast, Calais, Damariscotta, Dexter, Ellsworth, Farmington, Fort Kent, Houlton, Lewiston, Machias, Norway, Presque Isle, Rockland, Rumford, Skowhegan, and Waterville.
Note: Iowa, Minnesota, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, and Maine
commit telemed abortions.

While surgical abortions are decreasing, the particularly gruesome Dilation & Evacuation abortion procedure (commonly known as a Dismemberment Abortion) has increased 3,336 percent in our state from 2009- 2018 (104 in 2018, as compared to 3 in 2009). This grizzly abortion procedure is customarily committed on innocent, unborn children in the 2nd trimester.
Although we are making inroads, abortion is still NOT rare in Maine…
with an average of 5.3 abortions committed EVERY DAY…
37.5 abortions EACH WEEK.
